Espresso Tonics Became My Go-To Without Me Expecting It
Sometimes we don't want to try new things, after sometime experimenting I now like to try everything at least once. Like Yoda said "Do or do not, there is no try."
The first time I tried an espresso tonic, I didn’t think much of it. Espresso and tonic sounded like a strange combination — coffee and carbonation aren’t exactly obvious partners.
But something about it stuck.
An espresso tonic is simple: good espresso poured over ice and tonic water. That’s it. No syrup, no extras. When it’s done right, it’s bright, slightly bitter, refreshing, and surprisingly smooth. It’s the kind of drink that works best when the espresso itself is solid.
Living in El Paso, where warm days are the norm, espresso tonics make sense. They’re light, clean, and easy to drink without feeling heavy. It’s coffee that doesn’t slow you down.
At Buddy, drinks like this reflect how I approach coffee in general — stripped back, intentional, and honest. No need to overcomplicate something that already works.
